University of Konstanz – creative.together

The University of Konstanz is the smallest university currently receiving funding in the Universities of Excellence funding line. It was able to convince with its proposal "University of Konstanz – creative.together", which aims to develop the full potential of its researchers in a culture of creativity.

The University of Konstanz was founded in 1966 as a reform university and is one of six universities that have been successful in all funding lines of the Excellence Initiative and the Excellence Strategy since 2007. Being a smaller-size university results in a high degree of flexibility and interdisciplinary cooperation between and within its thirteen departments, which are grouped into the three sections: “Mathematics-Natural Sciences”, “Humanities” and “Politics-Law-Economics”.

Its strategy “University of Konstanz – creative.together” is based on the  idea that outstanding research and innovation thrive when diverse people and ideas come together in a supportive and inclusive environment. To this end, the University of Konstanz aims to create the framework conditions that enable access to extensive research infrastructures and research-supporting services.

The University of Konstanz will continue to receive funding until the end of 2026, as it no longer meets the required minimum number of Clusters of Excellence for continued funding.
