RWTH Aachen University (RWTH) has been funded in the Excellence Strategy since 2019. Before, it was also funded in the Excellence Initiative. The title of its overall strategy is "The Integrated Interdisciplinary University of Science and Technology. Knowledge. Impact. Networks."

With over 47,000 students, the RWTH Aachen University (RWTH) is one of the largest technical universities in Germany. RWTH’s goal is to create a nationally and internationally unique environment for teaching, research, and knowledge transfer with dynamic research networks that transcend disciplinary and organisational boundaries. To this end, it devised a total of ten measures which focus on different performance areas and and further areas of activity to implement RWTH’s overall strategy.
